Best modaks in Dubai are easiest to find around Karama, JLT and Oud Metha, with proper ukadiche modak from Maharashtrian restaurants and the fun mithai versions from sweet shops. Ganesh Chaturthi falls on Monday 14 September 2026, so this is the list I would save before the pre-order rush starts.
I am keeping this useful rather than pretending every colourful modak is the same thing. If you want the soft steamed rice-flour shell with coconut and jaggery inside, ask specifically for ukadiche modak. If you want a gifting box, there are plenty of mawa, kaju and chocolate versions too.

Traditional ukadiche modak first
1) Manisha’s Kitchen
If you want the traditional version, this is the most obvious place to start. Manisha’s Kitchen is a dedicated Maharashtrian restaurant in Karama and its ukadiche modak is handmade with a steamed rice-flour shell, brown jaggery, fresh roasted coconut, cardamom and charoli.
The restaurant says it is usually available with around one hour’s advance notice, and recommends eating it with ghee within 24 hours. Around Ganesh Chaturthi, I would still order well ahead rather than testing your luck at the counter.
Where: Sheikh Hamdan Colony, Karama
What to order: Ukadiche Modak
Price: On request
Order:Manisha’s Kitchen
Worth the detour: yes if this is your first proper ukadiche modak. Start traditional before Dubai convinces you it needs kunafa inside.
2) Peshwa
Peshwa is another solid Karama answer when the brief is simply: steamed modak, coconut-jaggery centre, no drama. It has offered ukadiche modak on a pre-order basis for Ganesh Chaturthi in previous seasons, so this is one I would check early once 2026 orders open.
Where: Karama
What to order: Ukadiche Modak
2026 price: TBC
Order:@peshwadubai
3) Diva Maharashtracha
Useful if you live on the JLT side of town and do not fancy crossing Dubai for your modak fix. Diva Maharashtracha has done fresh ukadiche modaks for Ganesh Chaturthi and has previously accepted bulk orders with advance notice.
Where: JLT
What to order: Fresh Ukadiche Modak
2026 price: TBC
Order:@divamahadxb
4) Mumbaikar’s
Mumbaikar’s in Oud Metha is worth keeping on the list because it gives you another traditional Maharashtrian option outside Karama. It has taken Ganpati modak orders through Instagram before, including ukadiche modak.
Where: Oud Metha
What to order: Ukadiche Modak
Price: On request
Order:@mumbaikarsdxb
5) Vasai Local
Back to Karama, because apparently that is where half this article lives. Vasai Local has previously offered the steamed rice-flour, coconut-jaggery style and taken pre-bookings for Ganesh Chaturthi.
Where: Karama
What to order: Ukadiche Modak
2026 price: TBC
Order:@vasailocalrestaurant
6) Kolhapuri Tadka
If Bur Dubai is easier, Kolhapuri Tadka has also done Ganesh Chaturthi modaks and delivery orders in previous seasons. I would message before travelling because this is a seasonal item rather than something I would assume is sitting in the display every day.
Where: Bur Dubai
What to look for: Ganesh Chaturthi Modak
2026 price: TBC
Order:@kolhapuritadkarestaurant
7) VEGO Cafe & Confectionery
This is the easiest option if you want to order online rather than phone three restaurants and hope someone answers. VEGO currently lists ukadiche modaks from AED 20 to AED 155, with box sizes from 4 pieces upwards.
Where: Dubai delivery
What to order: Ukadiche Modak
Price: AED 20 to 155 depending on box size
Order:VEGO online
8) Sunmeet
Sunmeet is another genuinely useful delivery option because the product is already live rather than hiding behind a seasonal Instagram post. Its steamed ukadiche modak comes as a 6-piece pack for AED 48 and is marked for pre-order.
Where: Dubai delivery
What to order: Steamed Modak, 6 pieces
Price: AED 48
Order:Sunmeet
For flavoured modaks and gifting boxes
9) Kamat
Kamat is where the list starts getting less traditional. Its Ganesh range has previously mixed steamed modaks with flavours such as Dark Chocolate Pistachio, White Chocolate Mango and Kesri Mawa.
I would not replace the traditional box with these. I would absolutely add one ridiculous flavour to the order though.
Where: JLT and multiple Dubai branches
What to look for: Steamed + flavoured modaks
2026 price: TBC
Order:Kamat UAE
10) Gwalia
Gwalia is the sweet-shop option I can verify right now rather than waiting for the full Ganesh menu. Its Dubai site currently lists Kaju Modak and Kaju Kesar Modak from AED 20 to AED 78.
Last Ganesh season it went much further with a very Dubai collection of flavours. If Pista Kunafa Modak comes back in 2026, I am putting it in the curiosity category, not the traditional category. Obviously.
Where: Karama, JLT and Al Nahda
What to order now: Kaju Modak / Kaju Kesar Modak
Price: AED 20 to 78
Order:Gwalia UAE
11) Regal Plus
Regal Plus is for people who want the box to look like a tasting flight. Previous Ganesh collections have included malai flavours such as saffron, pista, rose, mango and blueberry, plus dry-fruit and chocolate versions.
Where: Discovery Gardens
What to look for: Assorted festive modak boxes
2026 price: TBC
Order:@regalplus
12) Bikanervala
This is the practical one-stop-shop choice. Bikanervala’s Ganesh collections have previously included coconut, khoya, almond-pistachio and saffron-style modaks, and multiple Dubai branches make it easy if the rest of your shopping list also contains laddoo, namkeen and a box for somebody you remembered at the last minute.
Where: Multiple Dubai branches
What to look for: Assorted mithai-style modaks
2026 price: TBC
Order:Bikanervala UAE
How I would order modaks in Dubai
If you are trying modak for the first time, I would order a traditional ukadiche modak from Manisha’s Kitchen, Peshwa, Diva Maharashtracha or one of the delivery options first. The rice-flour shell and coconut-jaggery filling are a completely different thing from the denser kaju or mawa sweets shaped like modaks.
For Ganesh Chaturthi itself, pre-order. Fresh steamed modaks are not the sweet I would leave until 6 pm on 14 September and then start calling restaurants.
If you are making a food day of it, pair the Karama run with my Dubai bakeries guide, save my JLT restaurant list if Diva or Kamat is closer, or wander through old Dubai and Deira while you are on this side of town.

Questions people ask
Where can I buy ukadiche modak in Dubai?
Manisha’s Kitchen in Karama is one of the clearest year-round references for traditional ukadiche modak, while VEGO and Sunmeet currently list steamed modaks online. Peshwa, Diva Maharashtracha, Mumbaikar’s and Vasai Local have also offered them for Ganesh Chaturthi in previous seasons.
How much do modaks cost in Dubai?
Current online examples range from AED 48 for six steamed modaks at Sunmeet to VEGO boxes from AED 20 to AED 155 depending on size. Gwalia currently lists Kaju and Kaju Kesar Modaks from AED 20 to AED 78, while many restaurant Ganesh menus are still waiting on 2026 pricing.
What is the difference between modak and ukadiche modak?
Ukadiche modak is the Maharashtrian steamed version with a rice-flour outer shell and usually a coconut-jaggery filling. Sweet shops also sell modak-shaped mithai made with mawa, kaju, chocolate and other fillings, so ask specifically for ukadiche modak if that is what you want.
When is Ganesh Chaturthi in 2026?
Ganesh Chaturthi falls on Monday 14 September 2026. If you want fresh steamed modaks for the day itself, order ahead because many restaurants make them in limited batches or on pre-order.
Short version: traditional first, experimental second. And if your first ever modak is blueberry, I cannot help you.
