Comfort food personified.
When chef-husband & wife, Neil Kleinberg and DeDe Lahman, opened Clinton Street Baking Company in New York City, I think they kept me in mind when doing so. I am super grateful for them for that.
This all-day breakfast joint screams American in every little element around the restaurant. Their menu is extensive but unlike many other places quality isn’t compromised despite the quantity of the portion size as well the menu.
Just like any other American diner, this place is all about the funky typography plastered around a wall along with a open kitchen, chefs spinning a great breakfast for you.
The servers are pleasant and always up for helping you out with even with what to avoid ( you will want to eat everything off the menu).
My breakfast was a simple affair. We ordered a Spanish scramble – the caramelized onions were a sweet quirky twist which would otherwise be any other scramble.
WAFFLES WITH CHICKEN – Sure, it’s an odd combination but it was a great combination. Fried chicken with waffles – it’s like dessert, breakfast and snack time all at once. Sprinkle their exclusive honey tobasco over it and I promise you are in for a treat.
Portion sizes like that are meant to fill you up which is why it wasn’t a lavish affair. Combine your breakfast with the freshly squeezed juices such as the green drink and other mixers which are light and read: fresh.
